Another strategy for the Boston Wine Expo is simply to divide your tasting adventure into an "Old World" & "New World" approach. Simply put, Old World wines (e.g. France) generally have lower acidity, lower alcohol, and less fruit forwardness, whereas New World wines generally have lower acidity, higher alcohol, and more fruit forwardness than New World wines (e.g. Australia). Spend an hour on each, and see what fits your palate best!
