'Recipe Rehab' - Pushing Healthy Food Forward
Are you tired of gorging on your favorite Thanksgiving recipes and then suffering from their after-effects? Then perhaps you haven't heard of 'Recipe Rehab' yet! This wonderful cooking show, hosted by Celebrity Chef Danny Boome, began its run on YouTube and then made a first-of-its-kind shift to ABC network. The show is already being touted as the best cooking show since Julia Child's.
'Recipe Rehab' is basically a makeover show in which traditionally rich recipes are given a healthier twist, with lower sugar and fat content and overall reduced calories. However, the texture, flavor and ease of cooking these dishes remains the same. Two chefs show the makeover of the recipes and then two made-over recipes are given to two families, who have to replicate them in their kitchen. When time is up, whichever family makes the better-tasting dish is declared the winner!
Recipe Rehab videos are also available on BetterEats.com and come complete with shopping lists and instructional videos so that you can learn to make these healthier versions of your favorite recipes at home.
Currently, the show is getting popular among American viewers, who are either suffering from high blood pressure, lactose intolerance, as well as those who are pushing towards a healthier lifestyle. The recipes get a healthy makeover by abandoning ingredients like oil, sugar, butter, etc.
According to Danny, the show is "on a mission to push healthy food forward". You would believe so too if you take a look at some of the recipes that have been given a makeover on the show: Butternut Squash Mac 'n Cheese, Pumpkin Spice Protein Balls, Oven-Fried Chicken Tenders, Chorizo Nachos, and Turkey and Black Bean Chili. Sounds like a delicious transition to us!
