She came in for a lot of flak when she gave up vegetarian food for her then boyfriend and now husband, Will Koppelman but now Drew Barrymore has redeemed herself with a healthy diet, which she is quick to share with everyone. Recently, in an interview to a popular magazine, she said that she was forced to eat for two, considering her pregnancy, and had now resorted to a healthier diet routine. Read on to know more about Barrymore’s diet tips as well as the cheat foods that she indulges in every now and then.



Her Classic Taste Remains


The 37-year-old actor calls herself the “carb queen.” At one occasion, he even said, “I’ll always order macaroni and cheese, but I don’t want it to be fancy. I want it to be as close to Kraft as it can possible get!” One thing she wants as part of her diet is the classic taste of dishes, which she remembers from her childhood. She explains, “I love inventive food, but I want the classic dishes to taste like how I remember them. I get a little bummed out when there is too much fancy stuff going on and it doesn’t resemble the original dish at all.”



Drew’s Diet Tips


Don’t get fooled by her talk about mac ‘n cheese. She is very particular about what she stores at home so that she doesn’t give in to unhealthy indulgences too easily. It is, therefore, that she keeps stocked things like soups. One of her sureshot dishes is a “container of homemade curried heirloom tomato-lentil soup”, which she keeps stocked in her refrigerator. Besides, she considers tea her ‘soulmate.’



Somebody Teach Her Mexican


If there is one thing Drew is desperate to learn cooking soon, it is the Mexican food. She appeals, “Somebody, please teach me how to make better chilaquiles. The dish is simultaneously dry and soggy – I somehow accomplished both texture and nothing else. I tried adding Cholula hot sauce, Topatio hot sauce, but nothing was helping that sucker!”



Drew’s Unconventional Diet


This is not the first time that Barrymore has resorted to a diet. She has done so in the past, for different reasons – one of which was tongue-piercing. In 2008, when she got her tongue pierced and could not eat properly, she said, “I couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink for two weeks – great diet in a weird way.” Besides, the fact that she has been struggling with weight fluctuations also contributes to her diet fluctuations. She is known to stick to smaller portions at meals, which feature lean proteins and veggies.



While losing weight or maintaining that perfect body shape can become a little tedious at times, Drew has her baby and her loving husband to keep company. Here’s wishing the three of them all the best!
