Dhoni 1

Captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Maahi for short) and his beautiful wife, Sakshi, were recently spotted enjoying a quiet dinner date at the famous Indian restaurant, Mint, in New York. The celebrity couple were photographed at the restaurant earlier this week, after they had enjoyed a meal there.

Maahi & Sakshi’s NY Trip

The Dhonis ate at the Mint in the company of close friend Rajeev Sharma, who is a US-based financier. Sharma works with business analyst Paul Parmar and he is known to be close also to Indian actor Salman Khan. The Dhonis are staying with Sharma in New Jersey. The couple ordered a mango margarita to begin their meal, which was followed by Lychee and Pomegranate mix. For dinner, they ate Balti Chicken (Chicken served in a bucket-like dish) and Roti, as well as Yellow Dal and Chicken Biryani. The delicious dinner ended with Rasmalai for dessert. After the dinner, Dhoni obliged his fans with autographs and pictures but he was in a hurry as he had to catch a flight out of NY right after the dinner.

Dhonis Dine Out

Dhoni is a die-hard foodie and when he got married to Sakshi in July, 2010, right before his 29th birthday, the wedding menu boasted of 15 snacks and 25 main dishes. Since their marriage, the couple are often seen dining out, in different Indian cities, on official as well as personal outings. However, it is the first time, both Maahi and Sakshi were caught dining abroad. Before this, they have been seen enjoying the complete thaali (Indian dinner plate) experience at the famous Chokhi-Dhaani resort just outside Jaipur, in the Indian State of Rajasthan. Besides, during a felicitation ceremony at Mumbai, where the President of India, Pratibha Patil, honored the Indian cricket team after the 2011 World Cup win, Sakshi was seen eating together with Maahi from the same dinner plate. So sweet, no?

Something About Mint

The Mint is a fusion restaurant of Indo-Asian cuisine, which is the labor of love of chef/owner Gary Sikka. Sikka has been a chef for 18 years now and just like the herb it is named after, the restaurant is a refreshing experience in food. The restaurant is known for authentic India and Pan-Asian foods, which are served in a global style. Be it the appetizers (Bhel Puri, Aloo Tikki, Vegetable Masala Samosa, Fish Kohliwada, or Lamb Seek Kebabs), the Tandoori (the quintessential Tandoori chicken, Lamb Chops, or Fish Tikka), or the main course (Mango Chicken, Mint Paneer, Shrimp Malabar, Chicken Tikka Masala, Badami Murgh, etc), everything about the Mint menu speaks of India.

While Dhoni and his wife seem to have enjoyed their dining experience at the Mint, as is evident from Dhoni’s face in the picture above, tell us about your own experience in dining out at Indian restaurants outside India.
