Angela Hartnett’s New Restaurant Next To Forest
It seems that the British chefs are not satisfied with creating culinary delights in their kitchens alone. They want to expand their horizons and so does the Michelin-starred Brit chef Angela Hartnett. While other celebrity chefs, like Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson, are turning to television in search of fresh pastures, Angela has headed to the upscale Lime Wood Hotel, located in South of England. She will be working closely with the Lime Wood hotel to open a new restaurant early next year. Read more on the latest venture of Britain’s most famous female chef.
1) The New Restaurant
Angela Hartnett is the celebrity chef of Murano in London and she has decided to open a restaurant at the Lime Wood Hotel, which would serve “an extensive menu of Italian-influenced forest dishes.” The restaurant is yet not named but it will fall in the “brasserie-luxe” category and will focus on foraging to get its ingredients. The fact that the restaurant would be located on the edge of the “New Forest National Park” would only serve the cause. The new restaurant will be opened in the hotel room originally designed by David Collins. Presently, Martin Brudnizki is looking after an extensive makeover of the room. Brudnizki has already designed London restaurants such as Le Caprice, J Sheekey’s, Corrigan’s Mayfair, and Hix.
2) Innovating With Luke Holder
Angela will be working closely with Lime Wood’s current Head Chef Luke Holder. Both will be chefs at the new restaurant. Speaking about the new restaurant, Holder said, “Our plan is to make maximum use of the forest produce that is available literally on the doorstep.” It would be interesting to see what dishes the two accomplished chefs would rustle up with the doorstep ingredients but more on that later. Innovation seems to be top of the agenda for the new restaurant. Since Angela is already known for her “informal and grounded style of cooking” with a hint of Italian (thanks to her Italian grandmother), the Lime Wood’s chef is expected to bring a fresh approach to her already established demeanor as a chef.
3) The Details
The Restaurant will be based on the country house dining concept, which would boast of a “relaxed yet confident service.” The restaurant will be open from Monday to Sunday and the menu will feature forest dishes influenced by the Italian cuisine, bringing together the signature styles of both Hartnett and Holder. The Lime Wood press release describes the restaurant experience as “relaxed brasserie-luxe service…the simple, yet carefully created dishes in a comfortable and unpretentious environment.”
4) The Food
The food, as said earlier, will take inspiration from the forest next door as well as the ingredients available locally. In fact, Angela has already shared that she is “very much looking forward not only to working with Luke and the team but also to working closerly with the many very local artisan producers in the area.” In her opinion, “I think Lime Wood complements perfectly my Murano restaurant. They are a great bunch of fun yet really professional people at Lime Wood, that’s the reason why I wanted to work with them.” Holder has said earlier, “I’ve always been a fan of Angela’s food and am really excited to be working with her. We are already working together on dishes for the new restaurant- it’s all coming together very well indeed. We’ve always shared the same culinary ethos coupled with a join passion and a core influence from the Italian kitchen.”
Angela is not new to fame. In fact, recently her recipe, barbecued spatchcock chicken, was published as one of the recipes to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee year of Coronation. However, her new restaurant, set to open early next year, will still have to pass the customers’ test before it can be declared a success.
