Brazilian Food At McConaughey’s Wedding!

Now we know why Hollywood heartthrob Mathew McConaughey was interested in becoming a cookbook writer last year. His interest in food, particularly that belonging to his wife, Camilla Alves’, native land, was more than evident at the three-day wedding extravaganza, which took place recently.

Apart from being a whirlwind carnivore affair, the wedding food boasted of typical Brazilian flavors, accentuated rotisserie-style meats, served along with Bacon-wrapped chicken, Brazilian top and bottom steak, pork sausages, and cheese bread. The couple had enlisted the services of a local Brazilian steak house, “Estancia Churrascaria” for catering services on their wedding day.

And while McConaughey’s friends kept teasing him about cold feet on his wedding, guests said that the groom, who met the bride in 2006, is still very much in love with her. The couple has two children together, son Levi, who is three years old and a two year old daughter Vida.

Describing her views on marriage recently, Alves had said, “We’ve been living a married life for over six years now. We have homes together, we have family together, we have kids, we’ve built a life together. So we’ve been living a married life this whole time.”

The wedding was organized closer home, on their Texas property, where the couple arranged for makeshift accommodation for guests flying in to spend the wedding weekend with them. The attendees included Reese Witherspoon, John Cougar Mellencamp, Woody Harrelson, Jim Toth, and Meg Ryan.

More about the food – the couple, always ready to ditch convention, had also skipped the wedding cake. Instead, the guests were offered a variety of desserts to choose from. But the wedding feast did not end there. Next day, which was Sunday, celebrity chef Guy Fieri was called in to serve a leisurely Southern feast to the guests. The menu comprised of crawfish, brisket, and fried okra.
