How To Fight Carrot Addiction

Carrots, the delicious tasting, nutritive vegetables are highly beneficial for health. But have you ever imagined that there can be a disorder called carrot addiction too? It is on the rise of late  and can have adverse effects on your health as well. It becomes problematic when the affected ones  think of eating them most of the time. Statistics also reveal cases where the consumption of carrots exceeded a kilo per day. Check out the blog for effective ways of fighting carrot addiction.

 

 


Hazards Of Carrot Addiction:


  • Carrots are very great sources of beta carotene (vitamin A) and addicts tend to consume excess quantities of beta carotene.

  • Our body cannot manage with excess amounts of beta carotenes and in some cases the carrot addicts are prone to skin color discoloration to orange.

  • Not only the skin, their eyes may also turn orange. In serious cases, palms of the hands and soles of the feet may also turn orange.

  • The vitamin A content may poison the system and can affect the liver too.

  • Carrot juice is also capable of triggering liver problems in addicts.

  • The large doses of vitamin A can damage bones and may initiate the onset of osteoporosis.

  • Over consumption of vitamin A sources like polar bear liver and vitamin A supplements have reported deaths.  Though in case of carrots such problems have not been reported yet, it is of course equally dangerous.

  • Excessive doses in pregnant women, causes birth defects in babies’ too.

 


Fighting Carrot Addiction:


  • Try a different food when you feel like eating carrots.

  • Instead of raw ones try boiled carrots.

  • Remove carrots from your foods list.

  • Reduce the quantity of carrot consumption gradually.

  • Take the help from your family members to avoid carrots in recipes especially salads.

  • If the case is serious, take the help from your doctors.

 

Withdrawal may lead to certain problems similar to that of a nicotine addict. They are:-’ 


  1. Nervousness

  2. Cravings

  3. Insomnia

  4. Irritability

 

Carrots are of course nutritious, but not in large quantities. Fight carrot addiction and stay healthy!
