Not to worry though, for it is quite easy to prepare healthy potato dishes. Potato is said to be healthy when it is not deep fried – hence when you choose to prepare potato dishes for kids, remember to bake or boil them. Some common potato dishes prepared as healthy food for kids are the following:


 


Potato soup:


 


Kids love this low fat soup which can be served with fresh ginger bread. Potato soup is prepared with low fat cream, fresh dill, and potatoes along with a few herbs.


 


Oven French fries:


 


We all know that kids are fond of French fries but if potatoes are deep fried, they are not healthy. Oven cooked French fries are healthy because they are baked and very little oil is used, making them ideal for kids. Thinly sliced potatoes are mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, hot pepper flakes and little bit of vegetable oil. Your kids will simply love it!


 


Baked Potato:            


 


This is truly one of most preferred healthy dish which can be served for lunch and dinner. Baked potato makes use of fresh herbs which include parsley, rosemary, thyme, and sage, which enhances its nutrition value. Grated cheddar cheese is also added to add a special touch to the dish.


 


Potato salad:       


 


A very healthy potato dish which is prepared with boiled potatoes. Other ingredients used to prepare this salad are chopped celery, bell pepper, radishes, onions, hard cooked egg white, mayonnaise (reduced calories preferably), butter bud sprinkles, celery seeds, non fat sour cream, ground pepper, and mustard. Healthy potato dishes are not only delicious and nutritious, but they can be prepared in just a few minutes also, which makes them a favorite of moms always pressed for time!
