Lentils are an excellent source of vitamin B and C and  are also known to contain eight of the vital amino acids. Lentils also have several trace minerals. They are also packed with antioxidants which are usually present in winter growing legumes.


Lentils for Cholesterol Reduction

Lentils help in eliminating cholesterol as they contain soluble fiber which binds to it resulting in low cholesterol level. Studies have also proved that lentils help in reducing the manufacturing of cholesterol within the liver.


Lentils for Diabetes

Soluble fiber present in lentils help in trapping carbohydrates. This slows down the process of digestion as well as absorption thereby preventing the blood sugar level to shoot up during the day. So those who suffer from diabetes must eat lentils every day.

Lentils have high levels of fiber so they work well to provide relief from constipation. Fiber can also help to provide relief from diverticulosis, a disease in which tiny pouches are formed within the colon wall. These pouches are formed because of the pressure experienced during bowel movements while you feel constipated.
