Making mashed bananas for babies is the easiest food to prepare. Bananas are easily available all through the season and make a nutritional meal for the baby right at home. Mashed bananas are a baby’s first food. It is also nature’s perfect food with a lot of nutrition. It is not only a convenient food but also handy and very clean. It is something as simple as peeling and eating. Bananas are least contaminated so not on the dirty dozen list.


Mashed banana is high in potassium and fiber in addition to vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin B2. Potassium contributes to healthy blood pressure by maintaining a good balance in the body and improving the heart functions.


People eating a lot of bananas are less likely to develop atherosclerosis. It is also nature’s own antacids against stomach ulcers and other ailments.


Mashed bananas are also good for adults and older kids since it provides a mucilaginous bulking substance as mucosal lining protecting it in the process. But one needs to remember that too many banana causes constipation.


Procedure for mashing bananas for a baby:


Take a ripe banana, a few spoons of boiled and cooled water, Formula or breast milk as needed. Peel and cut the ripe banana. Mash it with a fork or spoon. Add the liquid and puree if desired in a blender. Mashed banana kept in the fridge might turn brown gradually by the action of enzymes due to oxidation.


Banana can also be used for making banana cado, Banana custard, Banana and tapioca, fried bananas and Banana rice pudding.


Mashed bananas can also be mixed with cereals, avocado, blueberries, kiwis, peaches, pears, apples, sweet potatoes, and yogurt as the baby gets older.
