Peanuts to cure peanut allergy! Yes, you have read it right! This is true that people who suffer from peanut allergy, can now have the same peanuts to cure peanut allergy! This confusing theory (to me, at least) is the result of the new research which is carried out at Duke University Medical Center.

If you are allergic to peanuts you no longer have to avoid them to cure such an allergy. On the contrary, you can have more of these peanuts to cure peanut allergy. Dr. Wesley Burks who is closely associated with Duke University Medical Center says"It takes as little as 1/100th of a peanut to cause a life threatening reaction," However, it is known that this is an experimental treatment of peanut allergy which has been named as ‘oral immunotherapy’, makes use of peanuts for the treatment.

This new research on how to cure peanut allergy starts with a dose of peanut powder. This is equal to 1/1000th parts of a peanut. Participants are required to have this powder with food on a regular basis. Burks explains "They build up to a higher dose and that goes on for about 6 to 8 months and then at a certain point their immune system begins to change so that they're no longer having reactions,"

In one particular study it was found that 75% children who suffered from peanut allergy and ate increased quantity of peanut proteins for 5 years, could now have unlimited quantity of peanuts. This is considered to one of the surprising way to cure peanut allergy. Researchers have also cautioned that there is no guarantee that allergy will be gone forever, but still it is recommended by Doctors. Burks says "We don't know long term if it really will make it go away. And that's where the studies are really concentrated on right now,"

This concept might sound really very simple still it is highly cautioned that it should never be tried out at home!
