Dark Chocolate is Beneficial for Heart               Do you really believe in the famous saying, “forget love, I would rather fall in for chocolates.” Well, if the answer is yes, then this news will give you one more reason to fall for chocolates. A recent study in Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Unit at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston has stated that dark chocolate in moderate quantity can reduce the risk of heart failure. The study done by some researchers in Boston gazed at almost 32,000 Swedish women between the age of 48 and 83 years.

The researchers clearly observed that about 19 to 30 gram of dark chocolate approximately in a week led reduction in heart failure risk to almost 32 per cent of the woman. Various previous studies have concluded that Chocolate has high concentration of a compound known as flavonoids. This compound helps in lowering the blood pressure levels and protecting heart from serious diseases. However, the study also added that just consuming dark chocolate daily may not serve the correct purpose for many. Too much chocolate consumption is considered to be very unhealthy since it rich in sugar and fat. This can make people put on weight very quickly.

The BBC quoted Dr Murray Mittleman of the research unit as saying, "You can't ignore that chocolate is a relatively calorie-dense food and large amounts of habitual consumption is going to raise your risks for weight gain." The study is also published in American Heart Association, the journal.
