Fibromyalgia is a painful condition and we should try our level best because a little relief can make a world of difference to them. The foremost thing that can give them relief is the proper food habit. Let’s see which foods can offer relief to them and which should be banned from their table.

Foods that should be on the table:

•    Raw foods: A fibromyalgia patient should mostly depend on the natural foods. Fruits and vegetables are typically low in calories, high in fiber, and rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, and hence, are mostly prescribed by the doctors. Also, natural foods lack the additives that can aggravate symptoms of fibromyalgia such as obesity, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or autoimmune disorders.

•    Omega 3 Fatty Acids: Cold-water fish and walnuts are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Hence, these foods are also important for a fibromyalgia patient.

•    Proteins: More proteins into the diet of a fibromyalgia patient can keep their blood-glucose levels from fluctuating, which can trigger fatigue. Hence, they should include more proteins into their diet. If they want, they can include Mediterranean diet because it helps people avoid those sugar rushes.

Foods that should not be on the table:

•    Caffeine: Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of fibromyalgia. We think caffeine is a combatant to this fatigue, but in reality it drop-offs our strength. Also, caffeine triggers headache and interferes with the sleeping patterns, resulting in fatigue.

•    Simple carbs: Sugar and white-flour carbohydrates also provide a temporary surge in energy followed by a crash. This ultimately results in increased sensitivity to blood-sugar highs and lows.

•    Artificial sweeteners: A fibromyalgia patient may want to reduce his sugar intake. For this, he may want to be dependent on aspartame or saccharine as a sugar replacement. But the problem is that anything that has a chemical basis tends to be hard on people with fibromyalgia. Hence, a fibromyalgia patient should be more dependent on complex carbs or sweet veggies like yams, squash, or carrots.
