Heartburn is actually the result of the reflux of acids from the stomach into your food pipe which can cause pain that radiates to parts of the face. How oatmeal can be used effectively for treating the condition is discussed here.

Oats Has Many Benefits And Can Be Used In Treating Heartburn

  • Different individuals react differently to oatmeal in their diet. There is a small population who is allergic to oatmeal and its ingestion can trigger symptoms of heartburn. If you are one of those then please consume oats in a limited amount, along with other cereals.

  • Sometimes constipation also gives rise to heartburn because of the extra pressure on the abdominal wall. Oats along with other high fiber fruits and vegetables make stools easy to pass, so that there is reduced pressure which prevents the reflux of acids.

  • Oats also make for a good healthy snack as they are naturally zero cholesterol.

  • While planning meals refrain from use of spices such as black pepper and red chilly as they are common triggers for heartburn. Use oatmeal with mild herbs and seasonings.

Along with dietary management it is important to lose weight if one is on the far end of the BMI scale. Plan a regular exercise schedule which will help in gradual and safe weight loss. Consult your physician for medication that will provide relief from symptoms.
