Zooey Deschanel's Diet And Workout
Zooey Deschanel - the star who has often been stereotyped as the 'pretty-girl-next-door' definitely knows about sensible eating and keeping herself fit. The Your Highness and New Girl actress who used to be a vegan like her sister Emily Deschanel (who still is), had to give it up because she was diagnosed with wheat and soy protein allergies. But, despite her dietary shortcomings, Zooey Deschanel manages to have a very healthy lifestyle. Let's discover how she does it.
Zooey Deschanel's Diet And Workout:
To begin with, this 500 Days of Summer actress does not believe in snacking. "I try not to snack a lot. I know that sounds weird — some people think you should snack all time. If I start to snack too much, I don't have an appetite for meals. So I eat three square meals a day, and if I'm hungry, I have an apple," she said in an interview. She, however, believes in disciplined eating even when traveling. "I find that I'm almost healthier because I have to be really disciplined. I can't eat too much before a show, [or] you go on stage feeling terrible. And I almost always visit health-food stores in every city I'm in, just to make sure there's stuff on the bus I can eat — vegetables, fruits, lean meats, and nuts."
Zooey Deschanel is not much of a 'sweet' person, as she does not crave for sugar. But she enjoys cooking for friends and family. She says that she makes one helluva quinoa spaghetti with pesto and zucchini.
When it comes to her fitness regimen, Zooey Deschanel said, "I really mix it up. I hike, run, bike. I do an hour a day, and then have a day off a week. And I took six years of tap dancing, and I love it! It's a good cardio workout!" Sometimes, she has a few friends coming over and together they work on some circuit training. “And if they're coming over, you have to do it. You can't bail out when there's someone else coming!" she said.
