What is Diarrhea

 


Diarrhea is the loosening of the stool which makes the person feels sick.  However, there are many home remedies available for curing the diarrhea but foods are always important factor for causing and healing the diarrhea disease. Many times diarrhea occurs due to improper food and due to bacteria and other fungus which enters through the food we eat.

 


Here I have the listed the foods which you can take when suffering from diarrhea.

 


Yogurt:

 


Yogurts are easily digestible especially during diarrhea because of less amount of lactose. Yogurt also contains beneficial bacteria, which help in keeping your digestive system running smoothly. It is always good to eat yogurt instead of having milk when you are suffering from diarrhea.

 


BRAT Diet:

 


If you are having diarrhea then you can eat foods such as bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. These are known as BRAT foods. These foods are easy on the stomach and do not cause any irritation to your digestive system. They also help to solidify your stools.

 


Liquids Containing Jello:

 


Your body loose fluids in excessive amount during diarrhea. So in order to avoid dehydration it is advisable to take extra liquids such as water, fruit juices, jello, and even broth from soup. Make sure not to take any prune juice or any other type of juice which promotes bowel movements. You should also avoid caffeine which can irritate your digestive system.

 


White Rice and Mashed Potatoes:

 


White rice and mashed potatoes contains low fiber and therefore easily digestible. Try to eat plain rice and potatoes without any butter. Butter contains high amount of fat which could be irritating to your system and can contribute to intestinal cramping.

 


Other Foods to be eaten during Diarrhea:

 


Steamed Chicken:

 


White meat chicken is an easily digested source of protein and can be eaten during diarrhea. But make sure not to eat deep fried or sautéed preparations of chicken during diarrhea.

 


Blueberries:

 


Blueberries contain Anthocyanosides which have antibacterial properties and also a very good source of antioxidants. Blueberries are highly recommendable during diarrhea.

 


Herbal Tea:

 


Two teas, such as peppermint and chamomile, are highly effective during diarrhea. Peppermint has a very soothing effect on the gastrointestinal system. It also seems to be effective in reducing intestinal gas. Chamomile is a flowering herb which is very effective in reducing intestinal inflammation and calming intestinal spasms.

 


Thus avoiding the wrong foods and eating the right ones in smaller quantities can relieve the symptoms of diarrhea and make the recovery very quickly.
