However, a new survey conducted on the pros and cons of the pizza revealed that the thin crust pizza is not healthy, in fact they can be counted among the most harmful foods that are deterrent to health. The Daily Mail reports that the pan fried variety is richer in nutrition contrary to the common opinion that considers the thin crust pizza a healthier option. The survey which took all kinds of pizzas into account including the pepperoni and cheese varieties found that the pan fried pizza contained much less fat and salt in comparison. The pizzas sold in supermarkets are not beneficial for health either and lent credence to the fact that the thin crust pizza is not healthy. The researchers were however, surprised that when the frozen pizzas revealed more nutritive elements in them which again negated the opinion that regarded the thin crust pizza a healthier option.
The survey was conducted on the insistence of consumer experts who felt that all supermarket and take away varieties of pizzas need to be labeled thus keeping the people informed of the misleading statement that believes the thin crust pizza a healthier option.
A spokesperson iterated that the jumbo sized portions which were as unrealistic as they were unhealthy, often misled the consumers via the labeling depicted in the pack. This made it difficult to compare the products, and even the websites of the ‘take away’ pizzas did not help in clarifying the doubts of the general public who continued to regard the thin crust pizza a healthier option.
