-Foods that contain processed grains or refined grains in any form. Packaged cereals and products which use whole wheat flour as an ingredient are fine. If packaged food cartons has “wheat flour” mentioned instead of “Whole wheat flour”, these are type of the foods to avoid on Sonoma diet. Wheat flour means refined flour or “white flour” as it is commonly known. Rice flour also comes under the category of white flour and needs to be avoided.
-Starchy foods such as Potatoes or crackers and chips prepared using potatoes.
-Oily and cream based products like creamy salad dressings, butter, margarines, mayonnaise, all types of oils except extra virgin oil, canola oil and nut oil. Oily chips and crackers are also to be avoided.
-Dairy products, which are not free of fat are some of the foods to avoid while on Sonoma diet. These include cheese, milk, cream cheese etc.
-Any food product that has hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils needs to be avoided.
-Meats which have high fat content such as bacon and sausages should also be avoided.
