Soups are filling yet low in calorie content, and as a result these are great foods for those on diets. Here are 5 great soups to help you lose weight and fight obesity.

Cabbage Soup

The cabbage soup diet is famous when it comes to losing weight. Cabbage is loaded with nutrients and fiber. While it provides our body with all kinds of nutrients, the fiber keeps us full for a longer period of time. So if you eat cabbage soup, you don't have to eat as often. Also there is no restriction on the amount of cabbage soup that can be eaten, so you never have to go hungry with cabbage soup.

Lentil Soup
Lentils are rich in protein and soluble fiber. Again, the fiber keeps you fuller for longer. In addition the fiber helps in digestion and keeps your blood sugar at a normal level. A small amount of lentil soup is sufficient to fill you up, so you don't have to eat as much. The fat content in lentils is also very low, so make you don't add any extra fat with cream or butter.

Beef and vegetable soup

This soup is great for losing weight when the fat of beef is removed before the meat is added to the soup. Cook beef in slow cooker and keep it in the refrigerator. This  should be carried out a day in advance. Fats in the beef will freeze and float to the top to form a thick crust. Skim off this fat and use the meat for preparing broth. Beef broth is rich in vitamins and minerals. The vegetables are fat-free and full of healthy fiber.

Spinach Soup
Spinach is low in calories and provides lots of calcium, vitamin A and C, folic acid and magnesium. It is a great way to get nutrients that you would otherwise miss on a diet.

Tomato Soup

Tomato soup has no fat and is low in calories. Tomato soup’s dense texture fills up your stomach quickly and thus helps you refrain from gorging on additional food when one is on a restrictive diet. Just make sure you aren't adding cream or butter, as this will cancel out the healthy effects.
